A process server is a person who serves or delivers legal documents such as summonses, complaints, subpoenas, writs etc. to a defendant, respondent or a debtor, as the case may be.
The process server usually serves the documents in accordance with the legislation, policy and procedure in the area of service.
Service of legal process is not as easy and straight forward as it might seem. There are many pitfalls along the way which will snare the unwary server and, most of all, the uneducated server.
Now, the title “Process Service” is one that is well known and respected within the legal fraternity; they understand the concept really well, they also understand the roles and responsibilities that apply to this particular job….they also expect that the person serving documents knows what they are doing.
I have been working as a Process Server (Field Agent) for the past two years, previous to that 28 years as a police officer, mainly as a detective, so I do know what I am doing.
We also offer online training for this situation; A new Era in Process Service…. This training provides the entry-level process server with the fundamental knowledge needed to serve documents in an operational context.
Watch for our advisement on this upcoming training…..
